I asked a teacher who I haven’t seen in years to write me a recommendation letter and he gave such a good one so aside from writing a note, should I give him a gift? what kind? like a small cake or starbucks gift card or what? btw, he is japanese so i don’t know if there might be cultural thing about giving gifts so i decided to ask… thanks!

My kid is gifting her teacher a gift card and has made a 5×7 inch card out of construction paper. The gift card is in its own envelop which is about 3×5 inches.
Looking for suggestions on how to wrap/present it?
- put the card she made and the gift card in a bigger envelop
- put the gift card in a small box, and then in a gift bag with tissue?
How do people generally give gift cards? IN the envelop they come in or in a special box or in a gift bag?
